WebToolkit Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 September 2026
WebToolkit is a Chrome extension with everyday tools for web pages: screenshots, recordings, offline page saving, PDF export, text recognition (OCR), QR codes, table export, a colour picker, auto refresh and page change alerts. This policy explains what the extension does with your data.
The short version
- Everything WebToolkit creates stays on your computer.
- WebToolkit has no servers. It does not send your data to the developer or to anyone else.
- No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no accounts. Your data is never sold or shared.
What the extension handles, and where it goes
| Data | When | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Screenshots, saved pages, PDFs, recordings | Only when you use a capture, save or record tool | In the extension's local storage (IndexedDB) on your computer, and in your Downloads folder if you turn on automatic downloads |
| Page text and images | When you use OCR, Copy page text, Table → CSV, QR scan or the colour picker | Processed on your computer; results go to your clipboard or a file you download |
| The text of a page element you choose to watch | Only while "Watch for changes" is on for a tab | Temporary browser session storage; removed when the tab or browser closes |
| Microphone audio | Only during a recording, and only if you turned on "Include my microphone" | Inside the recording file on your computer |
| Settings and recently picked colours | When you change them | Chrome's local extension storage on your computer |
Network requests
WebToolkit does not contact any server of its own. The only network requests it makes are these. When you save a page offline, it downloads that page's own images, styles and fonts from the same website you are viewing, using your existing browser session, so they can be embedded in the saved copy. The OCR engine and its language data are bundled inside the extension. Nothing is downloaded from the internet for OCR, and no image or text is uploaded.
Permissions
WebToolkit asks for access to web pages so it can capture, save and read the page you choose to use it on. It only acts when you start a tool through the toolbar button, right-click menu or a keyboard shortcut, or while a tool you started (auto refresh or change alerts) is running on that tab.
Deleting your data
You can delete any item in the WebToolkit Library at any time. Removing the extension deletes all of its stored data. Files already downloaded to your computer stay there until you delete them.
Children
WebToolkit is a general-purpose tool and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
